This month, Ampaire realized more of its long-standing ambitions. We expanded into improved facilities, hit an important milestone under our AFVentures TACFI Program, welcomed new interns, and connected with the UPS Flight Forward team in Kentucky for the first time ever.

Still falling for the myth that electrified airplanes lack range? Here’s the truth. Ampaire continues to be the only company consistently making transcontinental flights in the electric aviation industry. This month we flew cross-country yet again.

How do we do it? While the edge for most current electric airplane’s capabilities is a few hundred miles at best, Ampaire’s hybrid-electric solutions fly well over a thousand miles with reserve energy to spare. In fact, because we’re more fuel efficient than the old combustion systems, we fly further than traditional engines too!

But why does it matter? Electrifying short haul flights is vitally important, but to decarbonize the industry we have to go further. Literally. The battle for sustainable aviation is being fought in the skies overhead right now, and medium and long-haul flights account for a significant portion of aviation emissions.

So what’s the impact? By improving efficiency and reducing emissions of long haul flights, something Ampaire’s solutions are uniquely positioned to do, we have greater and more immediate impact on the carbon footprint of the aviation industry as a whole.

Ampaire Announces New Headquarters at the Long Beach Airport

Long Beach Mayor’s Office Features Ampaire at Flagship Growth Event

Ampaire CEO Kevin Noertker gave the opening keynote at the 2nd annual GROW Long Beach 2024 event, introducing Mayor Rex Richardson and kicking off an inspiring hour of the City of Long Beach updates and announcements.

From Ampaire’s new HQ, to SpaceX’s expanded footprint, and Ford Motor Company launching their Advanced Electric Vehicle Design Hub, this city is a growing center for innovation in both aerospace and sustainable mobility.

UPS Flight Forward Invites Ampaire to Louisville HQ

UPS Flight Forward recently hosted Ampaire at their Louisville Kentucky headquarters to share a first hand look at our hybrid-electric technology demonstrator. To get there, Ampaire completed another successful cross-country journey with our hybrid electric aircraft. With a unique blend of safety, reliability, and endurance, our hybrid electric solutions pave the way for new airport destinations and opportunities to support forward-thinking organizations like UPS, deeply committed to sustainable aviation for the logistics industry.

Through our rigorous testing phase and demonstrations, we’ve accomplished two additional significant milestones; completing over 150 successful flights and flying over 30,000 miles, all with a perfect safety record for our hybrid electric demonstrator aircraft. Ampaire's flights have expanded far beyond our base in Camarillo, reflecting our drive to increase accessibility and broaden the reach of sustainable aviation. As we venture into new territories, we are continuously pushing the boundaries of distance, capabilities, and possibilities.

Ampaire Completes Milestone Under AFVentures TACFI Program

This month we announced that Ampaire has completed a milestone under the AFVentures TACFI Program.

This milestone represents the acceptance of our Critical Design Review by AFWERX. Ampaire has designed a hybrid-electric powertrain capable of supporting VTOL operations. The major systems covered were the electric generator, distributed propulsors, and the energy storage system. The completion of this review gives the green light for building and testing the system.

Current all-electric VTOL for DoD applications have significant payload-range constraints. The success of this program will bring hybrid distributed electric propulsion one step closer to commercialization. Hybridization can benefit the industry by expanding mission sets, cutting operating costs, and reducing emissions.
