This month, we released our white paper Executive Guide V.1.1, How Hybrid Planes Work. The paper discusses types of hybrids, the technology behind our AMP Drive™, and applications and scalability.

Hybrid electric technology has experienced decades of successful deployment in non-aviation applications. Our hybrid Electric EEL demonstrator aircraft completed a record endurance flight on December 10, 2023, in Camarillo, CA. This flight establishes a new record for hybrid electric aircraft endurance, with a total flight time of exactly 12 hours and over 2 hours of fuel and battery reserves remaining.

This remarkable endurance flight serves as our crowning achievement for 2023, thus concluding a year marked by consistently successful missions spanning across Canada, Alaska, Arizona, and California. The aircraft demonstrated unwavering performance throughout each journey, solidifying its reliability and adaptability in diverse environments. The EEL demonstrator aircraft has been pivotal in advancing high-powered electronics, inverters, motors, and associated systems and it truly is the backbone of our AMP Drive™ technology.

For 30 years, TTI/Vanguard members have looked forward to [NEXT], the signature annual event examining nascent technologies that can make a difference in the world 5 to 10 years from now. This year, our own CEO, Kevin Noertker was the conference’s opening speaker, with “Decarbonizing Aviation through Real Action Today”.

Addressing the dire need for sustainable solutions within aviation, Kevin’s presentation set the stage by exploring the environmental impacts of aviation, the opportunities presented by sustainable alternatives, and what initiatives are currently being pursued globally. He highlighted Ampaire’s unique hybrid electric approach, showcased the impactful solutions we have achieved, and espoused our roadmap and vision for the future. He wrapped up the conversation with insights gleaned from previously unpublished real-world deployments spanning the globe, encompassing flights across the continental United States and Canada, as well as island-hopping adventures in Hawaii and the UK.

Kevin Noertker Interview with Florida Aviation Network

At RACCA, Florida Aviation Network host Brian Purdy and CEO Kevin Noertker talked on the tarmac about Ampaire’s flight plan: deliver electrified aircraft as soon as possible. Kevin flew in the plane round trip approx. 700 miles, and toted the range of the batteries and how a single charge was all that was needed to fly roundtrip from Los Angeles. Kevin made it clear that our hybrids are easy to own - current infrastructure supports our mission without equipment upgrades or implementing new ground technology. Coming a year after our first flight, RACCA was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the aircraft — proving hybrid electric technology’s feasibility for aviation and discussing the details behind the technology that is transforming the future of flight.
